After Hours Care
Our practice does have a co-management agreement with all Mercy Urgent Care clinics for after hours and weekend care if you have immediate needs. They can see you for an appointment, file your insurance if applicable, and provide you with a summary of care. If you need to follow up with our practice, please make sure we receive a copy of this summary for better coordination of care.
You can send a secure portal email message through your Patient Portal for non-urgent concerns, lab results, or medication refill questions.
- Expect a response within 24 business hours.
- For urgent issues after sending a message, call the on-call doctor at (828) 229-7227.
Accepted Insurance & Self Pay
Please note that co-pays or co-insurance are due at the time of your appointment. We’ll bill your insurance for the remaining charges, but please note that additional balances may apply if your deductible hasn’t been met or for non-covered services. If this happens, our Billing Supervisor will inform you, and payment will be due within 30 days of receiving your bill.

- Aetna/Meritan Aetna (current CPP for State Health Plan with Aetna in 2025)

- Medicaid PHP’s: Vaya, Healthy Blue, UHC, Wellcare, Amerihealth (pediatric)
- United Health Care
- Medicare / Medicare Advantage (existing patients only)

All other insurances can be billed after payment in full by the patient. Any amounts paid by those companies to Our Family Doctor will go directly to the patient. Keep in mind deductibles, and co-insurances may be higher for out of network providers.
Self-Pay
Do You Need Self Pay Options?
We realize that many of our patients are either between jobs, or for some other reason do not have health insurance. Even without active health insurance, we believe that everybody deserves to have a personal physician. At Our Family Doctor we will do our best to meet the needs of our cash paying patients by offering a standard cash paying discount for our services.
