Mission Employees/Aetna Insurance – Updated In Network for 2026

Updated 10/23/25 Mission/HCA has confirmed that our patients will now be considered in network for 2026:

Dear Our Family Doctor,  We’re pleased to share that, after two months of communication with the Mission Health Employee Benefits plan administrator, MHP has successfully advocated for your group’s in-network status for 2026.  We understand how important this decision is to you. We are driven by the shared belief that this is the right thing to do for our employees and your practices, regardless of your decision to exit the Clinically Integrated Network.

We believe this decision will enable us to:

Minimize disruption within our community

Maintain continuity of care between patients and physicians

Promote goodwill and collaboration among Mission Health, MHP, and independent practices

Please review the following message from Greg Lowe, which will be distributed to all Mission employees today.

Warm regards,

Gerard Filicko, Regional VP

Karen Roby, Senior Director

**If you no longer have or will not have Mission/HCA health insurance (Aetna/HCA)

as of Jan 1, 2026, please disregard this message**

Dear OFD Patient,

We would like to inform you that Our Family Doctor has decided to no longer participate in the Mission Health Partners ACO program for the co-management of our Medicaid patients. As of December 31, 2025, the years-long collaborative relationship between our practice and Mission Health Partners (MHP) will come to an end.

Unfortunately, because of this fact, Our Family Doctor will be considered “out of network” for all Mission employees as of January 1st, 2026. While we would love to continue serving as your primary care physician, your co-pay or other service payments due will increase with this change. Please check with your benefits supervisor to determine how this change will impact your office visit rates at Our Family Doctor.

If you should decide to transfer care to a different “in-network” provider, naturally Our Family Doctor will do all that we can to support you in that transition.

You may want to take the opportunity to speak internally with the corporate team to see if they are considering this change, and how it will affect their staff. Many employees may need to change their health care providers with limited primary care availability in our area.

Wishing you good health,

Dr. Michael Weizman

OFD Front Entrance

OFD Family, After receiving requests from many of our older patients for years now, I am happy to report that we finally were able to improve the entrance to our building making it safer for all of our patients. We now have safety handrails along the length of our entrance ramp.

I would like to give a shout-out to the local company, Asheville Welding, for designing, fabricating and installing our new handrails. They are a great company to work with!

May these rails provide safety for our patients for many years to come.

Wishing you all a wonderful Fall weekend.  MW

Are You Worried About Measles?

OFD Patients – Given the recent outbreak of Measles in Texas, we are receiving many phone calls and portal messages from concerned patients about their immunity status regarding Measles, and whether they are at risk of contracting this very contagious virus should they be exposed. The doctors at OFD feel that this information below is a helpful tool for better understanding one’s risk of contracting the virus. If you are unsure and would like your immunity tested against the virus, we can order an antibody titer for you to be drawn at our lab. If you do need an MMR booster, this can be acquired at either the Health Department or your local pharmacy. – Dr. Mike

Audiology Services

We now offer convenient on-site audiology testing for patients aged 60 and older. During annual wellness visits, our physicians will screen for hearing loss. If needed, patients can schedule a 15-minute audiology exam on Wednesday afternoons for $70 (often covered by insurance). Results are reviewed by a certified audiologist to determine if monitoring or hearing aids are recommended. Untreated hearing loss is linked to increased dementia risk, making regular screenings essential.

For questions, visit our FAQs or ask your primary care physician at your next visit!

Change Health- Data Breach Update from 2024

You may have received a letter recently from CHANGE HEALTHCARE/UHC regarding a data breach.

This was a PREVIOUS ISSUE with this insurance company from last year February 2024, and has not happened again. The data breach was with Change/UHC and not directly with our practice. Change Health is reminding you of the issue and offer for a free credit report service if you chose to do so. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO TAKE ANY FURTHER ACTION AT THIS TIME

Cold/Flu Season Update

We are heading into the cold and flu season. As expected, we’ve seen lots of flu, COVID, RSV, Strep and stomach bugs these past months and last year. The OFD doctors and staff are greatly appreciative of the cooperation that we’ve had from our sick patients in using the dedicated parking lot spots near the back shed to keep germs outside of the building. This policy has managed to keep the OFD team, and the healthy patients that we see inside the building, largely free from illness. We feel fortunate that our practice layout allows for this strategy.

Our optional masking policy remains the same since we changed it in April 2023 and it seems to be working for most patients. We will continue to monitor the incidence of diseases in our community, and we continue to recommend routine vaccination for the vast majority of our patients.
